I love the solitude of painting alone outdoors, as well as painting with a group of artists who have great ideas to share and new techniques to try.  My most satisfying paintings are ones that take me back to the place and time that I painted them.  I love the outdoors and am inspired by its beauty.  For me painting can, at times, be a spiritual experience.  I love to focus on the magnificence of God's creation, and to respond to it in a creative way.

Susan gains inspiration for painting in acrylic and watercolour from Canadian landscapes, and travel destinations.  She has spent many enjoyable times at Emma Lake – Kenderdine Art Campus, Waskesiu, Struthers Lake, and other northern lakes  working plein air or   from photographs.  Canoe trips with friends and students, regular trips to Sandhills Stable and vacations often become the inspiration for paintings.

Recently Susan has explored metal sculpture and soapstone carving.  She is a teacher in Saskatoon.
